There is power in praise

Daar is Krag in Lof

Acts 16:25-26 (Handelinge 16:25–26)

25 - About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

26 - Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose.

This morning I would like to talk about the Power of Praise.

(Vanoggend wil ek graag oor die Krag in Lof praat.)

What is Praise? (Wat is Lof?)

Praise is you and I recounting all the things that God has done for us.

It is related to thanksgiving as we look back and appreciate all that God has done for us.

Praise is acknowledging all that God has done.

God has done so many things for us and He is Worthy of all Praise.

The Bible is full of scriptures that talk about praising The Lord.

Psalms 18:3                                                 Psalm 18:3
I will call upon The Lord,                             Ek roep die Here aan wat

who is Worthy to be praised:                        lofwaardig is en van my

so, shall I be saved from mine enemies.

Psalms 89:5                                                 Psalm 89:5

And the heavens shall praise thy                    En die hemele loof U

wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness              wondermag, O Here, ook U

also in the congregation of the saints.           Trou in die vergadering van die heliges.

Psalms 148:2                                                Psalm 148:2

Praise Ye Him, all His angels; praise he        Loof Hom al sy engele,

Him, all His hosts.                                        loof Hom, al sy leerskare!

We can praise the Lord with singing (Psalms 9:11)

We can praise Him with dance (Psalms 150:4)

We can praise Him with musical instruments (Psalms 33:2)

As a matter of fact, the Bible says in Psalms 150:6 “let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”

(Inderdaad, n kwessie van feit, die Bybel se in die boek van Psalms (een hondered and vyftig) 150:6 “Laat alles wat asem het, die Here loof! Halleluja!)

There are 3 things that I would like to point out about praise…

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually    Laat ons dan gedurig deur

offer to God a sacrifice of praise—               Hom aan God n lofoffer

the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. bring, dit is die vrug van

die lippe wat sy Naam bely

Praise brings the Presence of the Lord.

(Lof bring die teenwoordigheid van die Here)

The Lord inhabits the Praises of His People

When you and I begin to praise God, He shows up in a supernatural way.

Praise is an invitation for God to show up in our situation.

When you and I praise God, He shows up.

(Wanneer ek en jy God prys, openbaar Hy homself.)

I don’t know about you, but there have been times when I am facing a situation, but I begin to praise the Lord and He shows up in my life.

(Ek weet nie van julle nie, maar daar was baie tye toe ek n situasie in die gesig staar, maar wanneer ek begin om die Here te prys openbaar Hy homself magtiglik in my lewe.)

Can I get a witness? (Kan ek n getuie kry?)

The nice thing about that, is sometimes it can happen when you are not at Church.

How many know we don’t have to be at Church for God to show up?

Paul and Silas were in the middle of a prison.

So, it doesn’t matter where we are at, God can show up.

Praise is a sacrifice (Lof is n opoffering)

Psalms 34:1 says I will bless                         Psalm 34:1 Ek wil die

The Lord at all times, His praise                    Here altyd loof sy lof sal

shall continually be in my mouth.                 Altyddeur in my mond

                                                                      wees.

Hebrews 13:15                                            HEBREËRS 13:15

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually    Laat ons dan gedurig deur

offer to God a sacrifice of praise—               Hom aan God n lofoffer

the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. bring,  dit is die vrug van die lippe wat sy Naam bely

Remember praise is thanking God for what He has done:

Even when I don’t feel like praising Him or if I have a bad day, I can still praise Him for all that He has done.

What He has done is still done, my situation doesn’t change what He has done.

So even if my flesh doesn’t feel like praising, I can praise Him anyway because it’s still done and that’s when It becomes a sacrifice of praise.

(So selfs as my vlees nie voel om lofprysing te gee nie, kan ek Hom in elkgeval prys omdat dit alreeds gedoen is, en dit is wanneer dit 'n lofoffer word.)

Example: (Byvoorbeeld:)

I may not feel good today, but I can still Praise God for my salvation

(Ek mag nie goed voel nie, maar ek kan die Here prys vir my verlossing)

I may not feel good, but I can still Praise God for the healing He gave me

(Ek mag nie goed voel nie, maar ek kan die Here nogsteeds prys vir Sy genesing in my lewe)

I may not feel good, but I can Praise the Lord for delivering me

(Ek mag nie goed voel nie, maar ek kan die Here nogsteeds prys dat Hy my gered het)

I may not feel good, but I can still Praise the Lord for blessing me

(Ek mag nie goed voel nie, maar ek kan die Here nogsteeds prys vir Sy seëning in my lewe)

I may not have all the money in the world, but I can still Praise the Lord for the roof over my head

So even if we have a bad day or things aren’t going our way we can still praise him for all He has done.

There is Power in our praise (Daar is krag in ons lof)

The Bible says in Acts 16:26 suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundation of the prison was shaken. At once the prison doors flew open and everybody’s chains came loose.

About midnight Paul and Silas sang unto God

Paul and Silas praised God at the midnight hour. The midnight hour represents the darkest hour.

Is there anybody that is willing to be like Paul and Silas and give Him a Praise in the midnight hour?

That midnight hour can represent a storm.

(Daardie middernaguur kan 'n storm verteenwoordig.)

Is there anybody here that is willing to Praise God in the midst of the storm?

The Power of God showed up when they praised and lives where changed.

(Die krag van God was geopenbaar toe hulle God begin prys het, en lewens was veranderd)

Somebody is about to get miracle in your praise

Somebody is about to get a breakthrough in your praise

Somebody is about to get a healing in your praise

What happened when Paul and Silas chose to Praise God in the midst of the situation, The Power of God showed up.

How many want the power of God to show up?

Then I dare you to have a praise party.

Altar Call

Can we sing a breakthrough song?

Kan ons ‘n deurbraak liedjie sing?

If you need a breakthrough lift your hands

As jy ‘n deurbraak makeer lug jou hande op…

Touch us Lord

Raak ons Here
